Nina Has A New Man… The Man

Peter CoppingAfter all the buzz that started last year, is official… Peter Copping is the new creative director of Nina Ricci. Copping replaces the amazing Olivier Theyskens who left the brand early this march, after rumors that his contract would not be renewed in October.

Copping, who previously worked under the creative direction of Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton started his new role last monday, designing a capsule resort collection for the label’s flagship store on Avenue Montaigne. He is going to be really busy, but his first runway show will only be shown until the next march, which is thought. But I guess that working with what Olivier left and all that time will help him with a best understanding of the brand – he must be under a lot of pressure, he is going to have to start selling, A LOT.

“I think it’s a name with a very nice history. I love all the French fashionisms, and Nina Ricci is very much a French house. It’s going to feel very close to all the things I personally like,” Copping told WWD. ”We want to move away from a girl and be more about a woman. I want the clothes to be very tactile, very luxurious – the kind of clothes a woman enjoys wearing.”

Mario Grauso, president of the label’s parent, company Puig Fashion Group, said: “I think Peter’s very tuned into the consumer [who is] a very real woman.”
